The one-dollar Silver Certificate was only made in two years, 1935 and 1957. Each of these one-dollar Silver Certificate notes was redeemable for one-ounce silver at any US Bank, but on June 24, 1968 the US Treasury stopped the practice of redeeming certificates with 1 ounce of silver. 1928 marks the release of the first small size currency (all prior issues were much larger in size).
